Libraries — productive study and meeting spaces

“Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, in spring 2018 and 2019, Moffitt Library received an average of 5,835 visitors per day and 243 visits per hour,” said Elizabeth Dupuis, senior associate university librarian and director of Doe, Moffitt and the subject specialty libraries.

How does a student experience in the library?

It’s 2 o'clock in the afternoon. You just finished a lecture and you haven’t eaten anything yet. You enter the Moffitt Library with your lunch and walk around the snack and drink friendly area on the 4th floor, hoping to find a decent seat.

However, it’s the peak time and Moffitt is full of people. It takes you approximately 15 minutes to find a seat. When you eat your lunch and open your laptop planning to prepare materials for evening lecture, only to find that the computer is running out of power, and there’s no plug for you to charge it.

Challenge: Quickly get yourself an ideal spot

Time-Saving

To help students find seats quickly, especially during peak times in the library.

Great study experience

To help people get ideal seats easily, because a bad learning environment will to have a negative impact on the learning experience.

Right choice

To help people make better choices, they might not realize that there are more available seats in different libraries.
